The Tutors
Jessica Shao graduated summa cum laude from Rutgers University with a BA in Classics (honors) and Music. She is currently pursuing an MA degree in Biblical languages at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary in Massachusetts, where she has been intensively studying Greek, Hebrew, and Latin. Jessica first learned Greek in college at CUNY’s Latin/Greek Institute, where she completed four semesters of Greek in 10 weeks. Jessica has also taught Latin online for the past five years and was a substitute Latin teacher at the Peck School in Morristown, NJ. She loves learning all languages, especially ancient ones, and is planning to pursue a PhD in Classics in the future. She can also speak Mandarin Chinese and a little bit of German.
Before beginning studies at Gordon-Conwell, Jessica was a private piano teacher for 7 years. She has been serving as a keyboardist for her church since 7th grade. She has had much previous experience in working with youth and adults from teaching language classes, Sunday School classes, and music workshops. Jessica grew up in Central New Jersey, where she lives with her family during summer and winter breaks. In her spare time, she loves to go rock climbing, play frisbee, read, and play piano and guitar. Jessica teaches Latin, Greek, Writing, and Music Theory.
Frank Shao graduated summa cum laude from Rutgers University with a BS in Electrical Engineering. He also graduated with a Master of Divinity from Westminster Theological Seminary. Frank has had many years of ministry and teaching experience in his local church and is currently helping to start a church in NJ. In his spare time, he enjoys reading and backpacking. Frank teaches Math and Greek.
Rebecca Shao has been a homeschool mom for 15 years. Three out of her four children have moved on to college and graduate school. She has planned and taught all subjects to her children and has also tutored other children in Math. Rebecca studied Business in college, received her Master’s degree in Computer Science, then worked in telecommunications for AT&T Bell. She recently graduated from Columbia International University with an MA in Theology and is now working towards her MDiv. Rebecca teaches Basic Math, Algebra, Geometry, and SAT Math prep.
Cheryl Hou graduated magna cum laude from Cornell University with a B.S. in Biological Engineering. Since high school, she has tutored several students in various subjects, including the basic sciences and math. She has also worked with youth and children while serving in her local church. In her spare time, she likes to read and play tennis. Cheryl teaches Chemistry and Biology.
